IT News: Silver Medal Drives Spike on Olympics Site
Australia's Olympic website withstood a barrage of traffic today
after Australian mogul skier Dale Begg-Smith won a silver medal at the
Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Lorenzo Modesto, chief operating officer at managed hosting company
Bulletproof Networks said Dale Begg-Smith's silver increased traffic
throughput to the Australian Olympic Committee's olympics.com.au site by 95 percent as Begg-Smith competed. Modesto said today's onset of traffic was "handled smoothly by the additional capacity and the reverse proxies."
