Balancing security and speed at AWS Summit Auckland 2017

More than 2400 people attended the AWS Summit Auckland 2017. Bulletproof as a Gold Sponsor of AWS Summit, was pleased to present alongside Invenco about balancing security and speed with the cloud.

Invenco is a global provider of self service payment solutions that includes outdoor payment terminals, electronic payment servers, payment switches and cloud services. Headquartered in Auckland, Invenco’s products and systems are deployed around the world including NZ, UK, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Seizing an opportunity for US expansion

Identifying a significant expansion opportunity in the US market – which is in the process of replacing a million Outdoor Payment Terminals (OPTs) by 2020 – Invenco engaged Bulletproof. OPTs are deployed for ‘pay-at-the-pump’ in fuel retailing. Retailers are looking for a way to improve customer experience and add new revenue streams, which is where Invenco can deliver.

For Invenco, cloud was the missing link. Bulletproof enabled Invenco to shorten the learning process, achieve success faster, while upskilling and transferring knowledge to Invenco’s team members.

Forming a hybrid team

A unique dimension to the engagement was that this wasn’t a situation where Bulletproof developed a solution and handed it back to the customer. Invenco already had their own internal development teams working to address some of their challenges. This meant it was critical that the solution needed to be delivered in a fast, agile and cloud-focused way, but also that Invenco’s team was brought along for the journey. To achieve this, a hybrid team was formed where existing developers and testers from Invenco worked alongside Bulletproof’s Solutions Architect and two senior developers.

The partnership ultimately allowed Invenco to leverage AWS and accelerate the delivery of innovative payment solutions to a global market with highly scalable and resilient architecture – all while maintaining PCI compliance and security.
